When I think about this Volleyball season, I am going to forever remember the four times that Franklin and West Henderson played. These two extremely powerful teams played four times, and all the matches were extremely tough. In the end, West Henderson won three of the four, but no one would say any of those victories were easy.
Saturday was the biggest one of all. The Falcons hosted the Panthers in Mills River with two very loud and energetic crowds. The fans were there supporting their team the entire game, and – wow! – they had plenty to cheer about.
The visiting Panthers opened the match with an incredible 26-24 set. Franklin had set point as West’s Lanae Kurl took her turn as server and rallied her team from 7 points down. While that Ralley didn’t hold for the first match victory, it set things up for the rest of the match, where the Falcons took the remaining three sets and the match: 28-26, 25-18, 25-17.
Congratulations to each of these teams. They are both in the Elite 8, and shoudl be so proud of everything they have accomplished.
For the Falcons, West will play Tuesday against a powerful Hickory team for the right to go to the State Championship game. This will be another epic match – you don’t want to miss this!
I have over 250 photos here of the Franklin game. Check them out!
